Cluttered desk? How about cluttered room? We may not think much about them at all since we are used to seeing them, but did you know that you’ll feel better without them?

There are several scientific studies that show that too much clutter can actually affect our ability to think, process the information that you have received, and even in decision making too. Even classrooms that are heavily decorated showed a decline in information retention in their students as opposed to those that are plainly designed. If that is not enough to convince you, here are other reasons how clutter can affect your health.

You’ll feel tired and even lethargic

You’ve probably noticed that you are feeling tired whenever you see all the clutter around you. This is not surprising given that these stacks of clutter around is actually representing stagnant energy that can lead to lethargy and tiredness. By removing all your stuff, you will be able to clear up the energy in your space while giving additional vitality to your body.

You’ll tend to procrastinate

Another way that clutter can affect your health is that it can lead you to procrastinate. Seeing all the junk around you can rob you of your interest of doing things at the moment. However, when you start clearing stuff, you will find yourself getting more into the act of finishing everything, especially the ones that you have put off doing.

You’ll feel socially isolated

What else can clutter do to you? Well, you’ll feel isolated because you are not likely to have guests come over because of all the junk that you have around you. When this happens, you’ll find yourself missing out on social gatherings and even getting in touch with your friends and family.

The problem with all the clutter in our home r at our office is the fact that there is no room for new things to enter your life. All that you have with you are things from the past which can actually stop you from growing. It can also cause you to look back all the time instead of planning ahead in the future. By removing the clutter in your life, you will be able to handle your problems since you have a clearer mind as you tackle each task in front of you.

Your respiratory system may get affected

With all the clutter around you, there is a huge chance that your respiratory system can get a hit. This is because all the stuff that you have lying around you can cause dust, dirt, pollen, and mold to accumulate. The problem with these is that they are minute and, when you disturb the surface of your books or other surfaces, the fine dust can easily be inhaled which can trigger a response in your lungs. The more dirt you are surrounded with, the higher the chances that you’ll trigger an asthma attack.

You may feel confused

Seeing yourself surrounded by clutter can leave you feeling confused as to where to begin. Think of your surrounding as your own brain where you will need to remove those that are not allowing you to think clearly.

By removing all the things that you no longer need, and trying to keep your space clean and clear, you will be able to have clarity, focus, and overall happiness too especially when there is not much clutter around you.
