DIY Coconut Oil Face Masks You Must Try

There’s so much hype surrounding coconut oil lately that it’s impossible not to get sweeped by the news that this miracle ingredient is worth adding to any beauty routine that you have in place. From beauty experts to enthusiasts of holistic medicine, many swear by this ingredient when it comes to skin and hair care. Your dermatologist may have recommended this at one point during your sessions which is why it is worth taking a closer look at it.

If you are wondering how to use coconut oil, it is better to use it as the base ingredient when making your own face mask because of its nourishing effects. The following recipes are not that expensive to put together plus they are completely safe to use as well.

Coconut Turmeric Mask. This face mask is perfect for those with oily skin. You will need a tablespoon each of coconut oil and turmeric. You will need to heat the coconut oil first so put it in your microwave and heat it for 5 to 10 seconds or until it turns into liquid. Add the turmeric into the mix then whisk with a fork. Apply it on your face and neck and leave it on for 10 minutes. You should feel a slight tingle on your skin because of the turmeric. After rinsing, you will find that your skin will feel tighter and that your pores are considerably smaller than before. This means that your skin will produce less oil and that any bacteria present will be eliminated because of turmeric.

Baking Soda and Coconut Oil Mask. Dirt and dead skin plus sweat and oil can clog your pores but this face mask can help alleviate the issue. You will need a teaspoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of coconut oil. Combine the two to create a paste then apply on areas where blackheads tend to appear such as on your chin and nose. Rub the paste on the affected area in a circular motion for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash afterwards with cold water then just pat your face dry.

Double Duty Mask and Scrub. Flaky and dry skin can be a problem as it not only looks good on you but it can also make it difficult for you to apply makeup as it can end up caking on your skin. Combining a tablespoon of coconut oil with two tablespoons of raw sugar to exfoliate your skin can alleviate dry skin as it removes dead skin cells. Instead of melting the coconut oil, just mash it with a fork until you have created a smooth texture. Add the sugar until you have made a paste. Apply it evenly on your face and neck and leave it on for 5 minutes. Afterwards, rub for another 30 seconds. Rinse afterwards to remove dry skin.

Honey, Green Tea, and Coconut Oil Face Mask. If you are aiming for radiant skin, the combination of honey, coconut oil, and green tea is worth trying out. Green tea contains antioxidants that can fight off free radicals, while lemon, coconut oil, and honey can help moisturize your skin. You will need 2 tablespoons each of honey and fresh lemon juice, a teaspoon of coconut oil, and a tablespoon of green tea leaves. Get a bowl and mix honey, lemon juice, coconut oil, and green tea leaves. Use a fork or whisk when mixing the ingredients and see to it that the coconut oil is not separating from the rest of the ingredients. Apply the mixture on your face and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water then pat your skin dry.
