What You Need to Do to Have Healthy Skin

We often wish we could have healthy looking skin all the time, but with the non-existent skin care regimen, sedentary lifestyle, and other environmental factors, our skin is in dire need of some help. Those late nights and binge eating that you’ve been doing too are not helping your cause either, as the dark circles start to appear under your eyes, with acne breaking out of your skin showing the effects of the sweet and salty treats that you’ve been eating recently.

Is there any way for you to bring back your healthy-looking skin then?

The good news is that there are several ways in which you can bring back your healthy skin. Here are a few that you should try out.

Choose foods high in antioxidants

If you want to make your skin healthy once more, then you need to choose foods that are packed with antioxidants as they are capable of providing support to your body when it comes to fighting signs of aging as well as disease. Foods that are high in antioxidants are pomegranates, spinach, dark chocolate, blueberries, and strawberries, just to name a few.

Manage stress

Stress can also affect your skin’s condition which is why, if you’ve been suffering from stress lately, you’ll find that your skin is breaking out in pimples and such. One way to beat back the effects of stress is to learn how to manage it as much as possible. You can banish stress by working out, writing on your journal, or going on a vacation.

Sleep is important

What else can you do to help make your skin become healthy once more? Well, you need to get your much-needed sleep too. You see, our body needs sleep in order for it to repair and recuperate, so if you are not getting the 8 hours of quality sleep, you can bet that your skin will look dull afterwards.

Reduce exposure to the sun

Another trick to make your skin healthy once more is to reduce your exposure to the sun. Although you can get vitamin D from the sun, too much of it can be bad for your skin. When stepping out of your house, you should make it a point to wear sunscreen, or at least wear protective clothing at all times. By reducing your exposure to the sun, you will be protecting your skin from getting damaged by the UVA/UVB rays that the sun is emitting.

Have some vitamin C

You can also add foods that are rich in vitamin C in your diet to help reduce the number of wrinkles that are appearing on your skin. There are studies that show that exposing yourself to vitamin C can actually help boost the amount of collagen in your system.

Minimize alcohol consumption

Although there is nothing wrong with relaxing with your friends and having a drink or two, you should minimize your alcohol consumption as much as possible since it can lead to dehydration which is not good for your skin. When you are constantly dehydrated because of your alcohol consumption, your skin can look dull and prone to inflammation which is not healthy in the long run. If you are going to drink, limit to a single glass.

Protecting your skin against signs of aging and from other damages is easy as long as you try these steps out. The best part? These are not that hard to do and once you get used to doing them repeatedly, you will be able to keep that gorgeous looking skin you’ve always wanted.
