Turmeric Face Masks to Try

Turmeric is a commonly used spice in India as well as in Asian countries but has recently gained notoriety in Western countries as well. This is not surprising given that this spice adds flavor and that extra kick to your dishes. Aside from being used in cooking, it appears that turmeric has other uses and one of them is for your skin.

There are several benefits associated with turmeric such as being able to reduce inflammation, combat bacterial infections, and even lessen skin irritations just to name a few. It’s no wonder why many are using turmeric in various skin care recipes!

You’re probably wondering how you are going to use this ingredient when it comes to your skin care regimen. Some make use of it for their face masks. Here are some recipes that you should try.

Exfoliating mask

Turmeric has been found to be effective in lowering inflammation on the skin and it seems that it can also help with removing dead skin cells as well. It’s true that we need to exfoliate our skin from time to time so this recipe will be useful. You will need a tablespoon of turmeric powder and 2 tablespoons of gram flour as well. Combine the ingredients and mix for a minute before you add rose water. Apply it on your face evenly and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse afterwards then pat dry. Don’t forget to apply moisturizer afterwards.

Glow booster

If you want to bring back the natural glow of your skin, this turmeric recipe is worth a shot. You will need a teaspoon each of Manuka honey and turmeric, a tablespoon of yogurt, and some lemon juice. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and set aside. Cleanse your skin first then pat dry before applying the mixture evenly. Let it sit for 20 minutes then rinse off afterwards. You will see that your skin will look brighter afterwards.

Hyperpigmentation mask

Spending some time outdoors, under the sun, can cause your skin to darken. You may apply whitening lotions if you like, but this hyperpigmentation mask can solve the problem safely. Turmeric is known to help with your skin’s pigmentation, but the rest of the ingredients used here are doing most of the work. For this recipe, you will need a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, a tablespoon of yogurt, and half a teaspoon of turmeric. Once you have mixed the ingredients completely, you can then apply it on your face. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes then rinse afterwards using lukewarm water.

Dry skin mask

Some of us are dealing with dry skin, perhaps because there is not enough moisture in the air where we are residing, or that we are not really taking good care of our skin. Whatever reason it is that has left our skin dry, the good news is that you can correct it with this turmeric mask. You will need a teaspoon of turmeric powder, a tablespoon of coconut milk, and half of mashed avocado. For this recipe, you will need to mix all the ingredients in a small bowl then apply on your cleansed skin. Allow it to stay on your skin for half an hour before washing it off.

Since you will be using turmeric, it would be a good idea to apply a small amount first to reduce staining your skin. If your skin becomes stained, this can be solved easily by combining lemon juice and sugar which you can scrub on the stain to remove it.
