Top 5 Study Tips

Students go through several years’ worth of schooling to gain knowledge that will help them prepare for the real world. Teachers provide lessons, tests, and activities that will hone their students’ mental and physical prowess. Although most students get to pass each level, there are some who struggle with their studies. Even those who are on top of their class have their moments of frustration when it comes to their lessons that they feel that they are not doing enough at all. With that being said, if you want to take your study habits to the next level so that you will be able to remember what you’ve studied, these study tips may help you out.

Skip cramming

Most students are guilty of cramming a few days prior to their exam date. Unfortunately, with the short time available, and the need to cram all the knowledge you’ve jotted down on your notes and books, the mounting pressure can make it difficult for your brain to absorb what you are studying. A better way to absorb as much information during a short span is to break your studying into several parts. This will make it easier for brain to absorb knowledge in chunks.

Find a quiet environment

If you are preparing for an exam or you just want to study in peace, spending some time in the library, or at least transform your bedroom into a cozy study can get your mind into the right mood. Since there are no distractions, it will be easier for you to retain information.

Take breaks

It’s commendable that you are studying the entire day, but don’t forget to give yourself a break from time to time. Taking a break can prevent you from feeling burned out, plus it gives your mind time to absorb the information that you have just read and digest it. Set up an alarm for every break so you will know when to pause. Go for a walk, or have a healthy snack, so you will have energy to continue.

Record voice

Some students find it easier to remember their notes if they record their voice and listen t it. If this works for you, then your phone will be your partner in your studying. Just make sure that you turn off the internet or remove the notifications during study hours so there will be no distraction on your part. Some students even transform their audio files into podcasts which they listen to as they go to bed.

Ask for help

If a particular lesson or subject is giving you a hard time, ask for help. It may be that you have a classmate that can guide you through the lesson or ask for an extra time from your teacher so you will be able to understand the task properly.
