Self-Care Cheat Sheet for a Better You

Taking care of ourselves should be second nature especially when our body is constantly bombarded by stress. But with the work that we are juggling along with our family life, and the diet that we are following, we really need to step up our game in caring for our body. But what can you do to care for yourself? For those who are struggling to keep their bodies in tip top shape, this self-care cheat sheet may be of good use.

Rest and play

It’s great that you are pushing yourself to do the best that you can do when you are at work, but when your work is taking up most of your week, even your weekends, you need to step back and rethink your approach. If you want to let loose once in a while, why not practice rest and play? Remember all those childhood games that you’ve done before? Such as swinging on the monkey bars, playing dress up, or playing tag with friends can be a fun way to let loose and bond at the same time.

Fuel your body properly

Most of us enjoy several cups of coffee every day just to keep us on our feet, but too much of it can have side effects too such as jitters, acidic stomach, and the like. If you want to sustain your energy throughout the day, the best approach would be to fuel your body the right way such as consuming healthy snacks like homemade trail mix, salads, and so on. Not only will your belly will feel full, but your energy levels will remain the same.

Get enough sleep

One of the easiest self-care practices that you can do for your own good is to get enough sleep every day. This means that you should get about 7 to 9 hours of good sleep so that your body will be able to rejuvenate and heal itself overnight. You’ll feel energized the following day which is what you should be aiming for.

Stay still

Another thing that you should do when you want to practice self-care is that you should learn how to stay still even for just 10 minutes. Use this time to meditate and be at one with your surroundings. Not only will this make you feel calmer, but you’ll also be able to focus on all the good things that are coming your way. Something simple as meditating can have a huge effect on your overall health.

Go for a walk

What else can you do for your self-care needs? Going out for a walk is yet another example of self-care that we don’t do much of. Self-care doesn’t have to be that expensive like what most people think, but it can be done with the simplest of acts such as walking. Try to park farther away from your office building, use the stairs in your office, or just take a walk after eating if you like. You’ll feel more energized because of this too.

Speak up

Staying silent all the time may not be good for you in the long run especially when you need some help. People are not mind readers and they won’t really know what you need unless you talk to them. Speak up or say what’s in your mind so others will know.

Who would have thought that self-care isn’t that hard to do?  You don’t really have to pay a lot just to feel better yourself. As a matter of fact, these self-care cheats can be a good place to start.
