Lotion Bar Recipes

Lotions help keep our skin smooth and properly hydrated and moisturized all the time but sometimes, the ingredients used in these products can make our skin break out in rashes or at least make them feel greasy especially when we use the wrong product. Fortunately, there is a better alternative to use and one that you can actually make on your own if you like which are lotion bars.

Lotion bars are perfect because they are solid in room temperature. You can apply a small amount on your skin which can easily melt and be absorbed leaving your skin smooth and soft. You can actually buy them from your local beauty store or, you can make them on your own. Compared to lotions, lotion bars are pretty easy to do since you don’t need any emulsifiers. Here are some recipes that you might want to try out for your lotion bar needs.

Hypoallergenic lotion bar recipe

In this recipe, you will need beef tallow, 2 tablespoons of beeswax, 1/3 cup of shea butter, mango butter, or cocoa butter, and 20 drops or more of essential oils of your choice. Keep in mind, however, that there are some citrus oils that can increase skin sensitivity so be sure to watch out for it. Mix all the ingredients, except for the essential oils, in mason jar and place it in a small saucepan of water on the stove. Turn the heat on and bring water to a low simmer while stirring the ingredients constantly until they have melted and become smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the essential oils. Pour the molds in whatever container you like and allow to harden.
