Homemade Exfoliating Masks Recipes

Exfoliation has gone a long way ever since it began, but it still remains an important part of any skin care routine as it helps remove dead skin cells that may be clogging your pores. This way, your skin will appear brighter and healthier too.

The good news is that there are various ways in which you can exfoliate your skin, such as scrubs, brushes, creams, cleansers, serums, and even overnight treatments just to name a few. Another way to exfoliate your skin is with the help of exfoliating masks. These masks can be bought in your local grocery, but you can also make your own with the help of a few ingredients. Here are a few recipes for you to try.

Fruit salad exfoliating mask

This exfoliating mask makes use of three acids from fruits and these are glycolic acid found in pineapple, tartaric acid in grapes, and citric acid in lemon juice. These ingredients can help reduce pores, enhance skin tone, correct hyperpigmentation, and even smoothen your skin too. For this recipe, you will need ¼ cup of pineapple, ¼ cup of grapes, and a teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mash the grapes and pineapples in a small bowl until there are no big chunks left. Add the lemon juice then mix them thoroughly. Massage it on your skin evenly and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off afterwards with warm water then pat your skin dry.

Honey and yogurt exfoliating mask

Another exfoliating recipe that you can use to remove any dirt and debris on your skin is to prepare this honey and yogurt exfoliating mask. Honey is a known humectant and comes with healing properties too that can help treat your skin. Yogurt, on the other hand, is also good for your skin and can even correct your skin tone too. For this recipe, you will need 2 tablespoons of unflavored yogurt and a tablespoon of raw honey. Mix the two ingredients in a small bowl and apply on your face evenly. Leave it on for a few minutes then wash off with warm water.

Rice flour and green tea exfoliating mask

Green tea comes with plenty of antioxidants which has been found to be helpful in repairing and renewing skin cells. Rice flour, on the other hand, works as an exfoliant which promotes a beautiful, glowing skin. For this recipe, you will need half a cup of freshly brewed green tea and a tablespoon of rice flour. You will need to brew your green tea first, and let it cool before adding the rice flour. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until smooth. Apply the mixture on your skin evenly by massaging it in circles. Leave it on for about 15 minutes then rinse off afterwards with tepid water.

Yogurt and sugar exfoliating mask

Sugar works as a natural exfoliant and is also a good source of glycolic acid too which promotes cell turnover and removes anything that clogs the pores. Yogurt, on the other hand, contains lactic acid which can also get rid of any debris on the skin. To make this mask, you will need a tablespoon of plain yogurt and a teaspoon of sugar. Combine the two in a small bowl and blend them together properly. Apply the mixture on your skin evenly and leave it on for 15 minutes. Massage your face with wet fingertips to exfoliate your skin even more.

These exfoliating masks can be used any time you want which is useful since they don’t have any side effects at all. You can add them to your skincare routine to keep your skin looking great.
