Home Remedies for Vertigo

Vertigo is best described as getting dizzy because of fluids building up in the middle ear. Those who are experiencing vertigo often feel that everything around them is moving or spinning regardless of whether they are standing, sitting, or even when lying down and their eyes are closed. Sometimes they feel nauseas too and their sense of balance is also affected.

There are many factors that can cause vertigo to occur such as too much caffeine, excessive intake of alcoholic beverages, anemia, calcium deficiency, and even injury to the head just to name a few. With that being said, there are home remedies available that can alleviate the sensation of vertigo that you can try.

Almonds and watermelon seeds. When it comes to treating vertigo, you should soak together 8 watermelon seeds, 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds, 2 tablespoons fo wheat grain, and 8 almonds overnight. Make a thick paste with the ingredients the following day. Put a pan on a flame and add a tablespoon of ghee. Fry 2 cloves in ghee then add the mixture that you have just made. Combine this paste in milk and drink it. You should do this everyday until you get relief from your vertigo.

Ginkgo biloba. Another home remedy that can be used for vertigo is to take ginkgo biloba extract every day for 8 to 12 weeks. This herb can help treat any problems within the ear that is triggering vertigo. You can also prepare a cup of ginkgo biloba tea and drink it several times within the day to find relief from your dizziness. Take note, however, that this treatment is not ideal for pregnant or nursing women.

Get enough sleep. Lack of proper sleep can also be a contributing factor to your dizziness which is why, you should make it a point to get in bed early to help fight off vertigo. Turn off your devices at least two hours before bedtime or do some light stretches or even meditation to help you go into a relaxed state.

Ginger root. Another way to treat vertigo is ginger root. What you need to do is to chew on a fresh piece of ginger until the feeling of dizziness disappears. If chewing ginger is not your thing, you can always make some ginger tea to soothe vertigo away. You can sip this tea throughout the day to help combat vertigo. You can also take ginger root tincture to prevent nausea and alleviate vertigo.

Water. Lack of water or fluids can also make you feel lightheaded and dizzy which is why you should always make it a point to hydrate yourself. Water is always the first option but you can also drink plenty of juice or eat foods that contain high amounts of water like watermelon and cucumber just to name a few.
