Get Rid of Flu Symptoms Fast

The flu can be pretty nasty when it is not taken care of immediately. Just imagine having to deal with fever, runny nose, sore throat, cough, clogged nose and the like throughout the day with chills or sweats too. For sure, you’re wishing that you’ll feel right as rain and fast especially when you have tons of things to do. Most of the time you’ll be checking your medicine cabinet for medicines to solve your problem but looking for an alternative can be better in the long run.

If you want to get rid of flu fast, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Get enough vitamin C. When our immune system is compromised, we become at risk of acquiring various health problems like the common cold or flu. This is why, you need to step it up when it comes to loading your body with vitamin C. Vitamin C plays an important role in your immune system as it helps boost its strength to protect you against various illnesses. Aside from taking vitamin C supplements like ascorbic acid, you can also consume citrus fruits like lemon, orange, and lime as they are high in vitamin C.

Blow your nose gently. Colds can leave your nose stuffed with mucus which is why you need to blow your nose often. However, make sure that you do this gently as blowing your nose too hard can damage your nasal passages and can even give you an earache. The right of blowing your nose is to press down on one nostril while you blow the other nostril onto a tissue paper. Do the same thing with the closed nostril.

Stay hydrated. When you are down with the flu, you need to keep yourself hydrated at all times. One reason behind this is that your body can become dehydrated especially when your flu is accompanied with vomiting or diarrhea. When you lose a lot of liquid, chances are you will be dehydrated which can affect your body’s ability to fight off the virus inside of you. Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water or more every day is highly recommended. Freshly squeezed juice or tea can also work as well.

Gargle. If you have sore throat along with your flu, gargling can help ease the inflammation in your throat. Just dissolve a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and gargle with it. Do this four times a day to help alleviate the itchiness of your throat.

Rest up. Flu may not be as debilitating as other serious illnesses but it can last more than a week if you don’t give your body time to rest and heal up. At the first sign of flu-like symptoms, make sure that you stay warm and off your feet. Your body will thank you for giving it time to rest and recuperate so the flu won’t last long.

With these tips in mind, you won’t have to endure the symptoms of flu for long. Just eat the right kinds of food, get enough fluids in your system, and rest up.
