Hypotension, or more commonly known as low blood pressure, can affect us from time to time, especially when you have been sleeping late, or have a medical condition that is causing your blood pressure to go down. Among the symptoms that can indicate that you have low blood pressure are fatigue, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, fainting, and lack of focus or concentration in your work. Consulting your doctor with regards to your symptoms is advised, but it may also help if you make some changes to your diet as well by adding these foods to your meals.

Carrot

These orange colored vegetables are known to contain beta-carotene which is a type of antioxidant that can help regulate your blood pressure. The antioxidants present in this vegetable can help keep your blood flowing properly and even provide immunity to your body as well. Prepare carrot juice and add a teaspoon of honey to it. Drink it twice a day and on an empty stomach to help bring your blood pressure back up.

Holy basil

Also referred to as Tulsi, holy basil is packed with magnesium, vitamin C, B, and potassium which have been found to regulate blood pressure in patients who have been diagnosed to have hypotension. You can chew on 4 to 5 Tulsi leaves every morning, or you can consume a teaspoon of tulsi extract mixed with honey on an empty stomach on a daily basis.

Caffeine

If you are a regular coffee drinker, you will find that your blood pressure will increase slightly because of the caffeine present in it. This has been found to be helpful to hypotensive patients who need to bring their blood pressure back up. Although it is not known how caffeinated drinks help out, it is believed that it can block the hormone that causes the arteries to widen. Drinking a cup of black coffee in the morning may help with your low blood pressure.

Raisins

Another food that can help with treating hypotension is raisins. This food regulates your blood pressure levels to remain at the normal limit by supporting the adrenal gland. To use this remedy, soak about 30 to 40 raisins in a cup of water until the next day. Eat them in the morning while your stomach is empty. You should repeat this for a month to see positive results with your blood pressure levels.

Lemon

What else can help you with your hypotension problems? Adding lemon is guaranteed to be of good use especially when you mix it with salt since it can support liver function while regulating your blood pressure in the process. If your low blood pressure is triggered because you are already dehydrated, this is going to help you out.

Rosemary

Another possible solution for your low blood pressure is rosemary. This herb contains plenty of anti-inflammatories as well as antioxidants that can regulate your blood pressure by boosting your central nervous system.

Salt

You can also use salt to help you bring your blood pressure back up because of the sodium that is stored in it. However, see to it that you do not consume a lot of salt-laden foods as it can lead to other health issues. Consuming salt in moderation is going to help you out.

Garlic

Garlic is beneficial to those who have hypotension as it can regulate your blood pressure too. If you can manage, eat 2 cloves of raw garlic an hour prior to your bed time, or add some in your meals. This way, you will be reaping the benefits of garlic without even knowing it.
