The Do’s and Don’ts in Blackhead Removal

Blackheads are another type of skin problem that are just too stubborn to remove. This can leave us feeling a bit frustrated knowing that they are just right there for everyone to see. Although everyone gets blackheads, and that they are not signs of poor hygiene, we still want them off our face as soon as possible.

Blackheads often occur when the pores of our skin are clogged with dirt, makeup products, and excess oil. When these clogged pores are exposed to the wind or air, they become oxidized thus turning into black which can be quite prominent on the areas of our nose and other parts of our face and body too. So what can you do to make your face blackhead free? Well, here are some Do’s and Don’ts of blackhead removal that you should follow if you want to leave your face blemish free.

Do’s of Blackhead Removal

Use an oil free cleanser

Like it was mentioned before, excess oil can actually clog your pores which is why you need to minimize oil production as much as possible. This is why you should use an oil-free cleanser first thing in the morning and before going to bed to remove any excess oil that your skin is producing.

Facial masks can help

Another trick to removing blackheads is to use facial masks regularly. There are certain types of facial masks that are designed to penetrate deep into the skin to be able to remove any build up inside the pores of your skin. This way, blackheads can be prevented as much as possible.

Wash your personal items regularly

You should also make it a point to keep your skin care tools clean as much as possible, including your gadgets. This way, you will be able to limit the amount of dirt and bacteria that may get transferred to your skin when used regularly.

Use benzoyl peroxide

Applying benzoyl peroxide on your skin can actually dry the surface which can reduce the amount of oil that your skin is producing. This can also help loosen up the blackheads on problem areas so that you will be able to remove them easily enough.

Don’ts of Blackhead Removal

Avoid overscrubbing

If you are trying to keep blackheads at bay or you want to remove them as soon as possible through facial scrubs, make sure that you scrub your skin gently rather than rubbing it raw. Overscrubbing can actually make your skin more inflamed and prone to blackheads and other skin issues because the pores are wide open and are aggravated because of too much friction. If you are planning on using facial scrubs, opt for something natural such as sugar and olive oil as they are gentler on the skin.

Make sure you don’t over moisturize

Since your skin is producing more oil, you don’t need to go on all heavy with your use of moisturizer. Choose a light gel, oil-free, or cream moisturizer rather than those moisturizing products that can weigh down your skin. You should look for moisturizers that have hyaluronic acid since it can bind itself to your skin to keep it well nourished.

Don’t pick at your face

Most of us are unaware that we touch our face all the time. Unfortunately, this habit is actually causing more blackheads and acne to appear because our hands can transfer germs to our face. If you find yourself touching, or picking at your acne or blackheads, you are just making matters worse for you as this can expose your skin to more germs.
