How to Cut Sugar in 8 Steps

We are all guilty of loving foods containing too much sugar that we shouldn’t be upset why we keep gaining weight no matter how much we try following a diet plan. Sugar actually wreaks havoc on our system and cause inflammation and even cravings to occur because our blood sugar levels tend to become out of whack. With that being said, if you want to cut back on your sugar consumption, here are eight steps that you should follow to wean yourself from this highly addictive food.

Start cleansing. Well, this is not the usual detoxing that you’ve probably heard, and tried, for that matter but rather cleansing your pantry of foods that are high in sugar content. Yes, every unhealthy snack and drink that you have that have sugar must go.

Brush your teeth. Another trick to keeping your sugar intake down is to brush your teeth after you have your dinner. Choose a minty flavored toothpaste too as it works as a deterrent to stop you from eating anything sweet. Let’s face it, you don’t want that minty freshness off your mouth as you go to bed, right?

Hydrate. Since you are ditching sugar from your system, you should replace all that fluid with water. Water is one of the best liquids that you can take to keep you fresh and hydrated plus, it can also help get rid of the toxins from your system.

Read labels. Just because you are buying BBQ sauce or even a dressing for your salad, it doesn’t mean that it won’t contain any sugar. Turn the package around and check out the nutritional label and you will be surprised to see plenty of sugar in it.

Exercise. Your body needs to be trained daily if you want to stay healthy. This doesn’t always mean that you need to head to the gym all the time but you can break your workouts into smaller sessions distributed throughout the day or look for a habit that will require you to move.

Sleep more. It’s never a good idea to skimp on your sleep as your body needs rest to recuperate. This way, you will feel more energized and revitalized the following day. Lack of sleep can also cause you to feel hungry all the time, hence the need to eat more foods that are high on sugar just to keep your energy levels up.

Get support. If you want to succeed in your no-sugar diet, enlist the aid of your family and friends. Let them know what you are trying to do so they will be able to keep an eye on you. Who knows? They might join in the fun too.

Careful of liquid calories. Stay away from beverages that contain sugar like soda and juices that are not made from fresh ingredients. These liquid calories can add to your weight plus they can damage your teeth too.
