Cold Feet: Common Causes and Home Remedies

Just Move

Sometimes, having cold feet is simply due to leading a sedentary lifestyle, which is something that can impede proper blood circulation to the lower extremities, leaving the feet feeling cold.

All you have to do is increase the amount of physical activity you are getting per day. Spend most of your time on your feet rather than plopped down on the couch. Exercising regularly is a wonderful idea.

Protect Your Feet

Is the weather cold or the room air conditioner is in full blast? Then exposure to low temperatures is very much likely the reason why your feet are cold to the touch.

See to it that you put on a pair of socks — the thicker, the better. Wearing socks even if you are indoors is an effective way to prevent losing much-needed body heat via your feet.

Use Hot Water Bottles

The moment that you feel that your feet are cold, simply reach for a glass bottle and fill it with hot water. Wrap with a small towel, place sideways on the floor and place the soles of your feet on the hot water bottle.

You may also simply rely on a heating pad. Most especially if you live in a place where it’s freezing most of the time and you are prone to getting cold feet, invest in a good quality heating pad.

Warm Massage

In a small microwavable bowl, heat olive oil in the microwave for a few seconds. The goal is to make olive oil warm, and not blistering hot as to scald your skin.

Massage a little warm olive oil on your feet each time that they feel cold. After much of the olive oil has been absorbed, put on a pair of cotton socks to save your feet from getting cold once again.
