Cheap and Easy DIY Sugar Scrubs

When it comes to beauty, we need all the help that we can get to retain beautiful and smooth skin. Yes, applying skin care products like lotions, creams, and serums can help moisturize and hydrate our skin, but there is more to skin care than a bunch of topical products. You also need to consider using scrubs to exfoliate your skin because dead skin cells can remain on the surface, causing clogged pores that can lead to acne and other blemishes. The good news is that you can make your own scrubs to use on your skin and they are pretty easy and cheap too for that matter. Here are a few sugar scrub recipes for you to try.

Lemon honey sugar scrub

In this scrub, you will need 1 cup of organic cane sugar, 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 15 drops of lemon essential oil, ¼ cup of olive oil, 2 teaspoons of dried rosemary, and 15 drops of lavender essential oil. All that you have to do is to mix sugar, olive oil, dried rosemary, and raw honey together before adding essential oils. Stir everything together until they have combined. Transfer them into containers and keep in a cool, dry place.

Sage and blackberry sugar scrub

Another recipe to try, you will need 3 cups of white sugar, 8 to 12 large sage leaves, 1/3 cup of coconut oil, and ½ cup of blackberries. You should combine all the ingredients in a food processor and process in high until smooth. Put the contents in a jar with a tight lid and store in a dry place. This will last for 1 week only.

Apple cinnamon sugar scrub

You will need 1 cup of coconut oil, apple, chamomile essential oil, 4 to 5 oz of jelly jars, 1 ½ cup of sugar, cinnamon extract, and cinnamon powder. Cut the apple into smaller chunks and puree them in a blender or your food processor until it is smooth then put it aside. Get a medium sized bowl and combine coconut oil, apple mixture, sugar, and 1 to 2 drops of cinnamon extract. Sprinkle a few shakes of cinnamon powder then mix well. Add the scrub to the jelly jars, seal them, and put aside.

Lemon poppyseed sugar scrub

For this recipe, you will need 1 ½ to 2 cups of sugar, few drops of almond or vitamin E oil, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, lemon zest of one lemon, ¼ cup of coconut oil, 2 teaspoons of lemon juice or 2 drops of lemon essential oil, and ¼ cup of poppy seeds. You will need to mix the sugar, lemon zest, and poppy seeds together. Pour the oil, lemon juice, and vanilla then give it a good stir. You can add more sugar for a less wet scrub then adjust the vanilla and lemon juice until you get the right scent. You can use lemon essential oil if you like. The goal here is to have the consistency of wet sand so adjust the mixture accordingly.
