Body Odor Away: Tips and Tricks on Smelling Great

Just because a deodorant carries a steep price tag and is endorsed by a celebrity doesn’t mean that it’s the most effective thing on the planet against body odor. Many of those allegedly superb products on the market do not really work, plus some of the harsh chemicals they contain can also cause unfavorable side effects like skin irritation and darkening — taking away your remaining self-confidence!

Worry not if none of the pricey products out there can seem to get rid of your body odor effectively and without causing any additional issue. That’s because there are so many home remedies available that are guaranteed to keep you smelling great all day long. What’s more, they are easy on the nose as well as your pocket.

So without further ado, let’s take a look at some tips and tricks that you may do to ward off body odor:

Baking Soda

After taking a bath and completely drying your armpits, come up with baking soda paste — simply add a few drops of water to a tablespoon or two of baking soda. Apply the resulting paste on your underarms. Keep both your arms raised to allow the paste to completely dry for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, rinse off with water and dry very well.

Reach for a mild deodorant and apply generously. If putting on a sleeved top, allow your deodorant to dry for while to keep the fabric from wiping off the product.

Lime Juice

Another excellent home remedy for body odor is lime juice. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties, thus it’s very good at keeping at bay microbial growth in your underarms.

If you have sensitive skin, applying lime juice on your armpits may cause some stinging sensation as well as reddening. Fret not because you can simply dilute lime juice with equal amounts of water. Some people with really sensitive skin also add a little rose water for extra soothing properties.

What’s so great about relying on lime juice for keeping at bay body odor is it also helps lighten dark skin, courtesy of its all-natural skin bleaching properties. So if the color of your underarms is on the unflattering side, you can count on lime juice to smell great as well as look phenomenal even with your arms raised.

Rosemary Oil

There are many essential oils that possess not only amazing scents but also antimicrobial properties. One of them that you may employ for eliminating body odor is rosemary oil. But just like when using any other therapeutic grade essential oil — the kind that’s 100 percent pure — it has to be diluted with your favorite carrier oil.

Simply apply the mixture on your underarms and let it dry there to keep the area from ending up smelly. Have no carrier oil at home? Then simply add a drop or two of rosemary essential oil to your favorite non-greasy hand and body lotion, and massage a little amount to your armpits.

By the way, some people love pairing rosemary oil with a little melted beeswax, which is something that has superb skin-beautifying properties, courtesy of the vitamins and minerals in it.

Zinc-Rich Foods

Did you know that consuming certain foods can actually save you from the sheer embarrassment brought about by body odor? These foods are capable of keeping the hormone levels within the normal range, thus preventing excessive sweating that can pave the way for odor-causing bacteria to multiply uncontrollably.

Some of the foods that are capable of keeping you smelling fresh are those that contain the mineral zinc. Shellfish such as oysters are excellent sources of zinc. The same is true with wheat bran and pecan nuts. If you think that you are not obtaining enough zinc by means of your diet, ask your doctor about supplementing with it.
