What’s The Right Way to Wash Your Face?

Our face is often subjected to various elements such as sun, wind, rain, dust, dirt, sweat, and oil. The skin care products that we are using can also have an impact on our skin especially those that are not formulated for the kind of skin that we have. This can lead to clogged pores if we are not washing our face regularly and properly which can lead to various skin issues like acne breakouts, premature signs of aging, and other blemishes. These can add more insult to injury which is why we need all the help that we can get when it comes to taking care of the skin on our face. Fortunately, you can actually prevent all these from happening with learning the right way to wash your face. Yes, you read that right. So here are the steps that you need to follow to have a blemish-free skin.

Wash with warm water

The first step that you need to follow is to use warm water when washing your face. You may apply a mild cleanser right after. This will help remove any dirt or clogging that may be blocking your pores then pat your skin dry using a clean towel. A mild cleanser is important as this will not aggravate any skin condition that you may have.

Use toner

After washing your face with warm water, the next step would be to apply toner. Dip a cotton ball in toner then apply all over your face. Leave it on until it has dried. You should focus more on your problem areas such as the T-zone. This is perfect for those who have extremely oily skin as it will help reduce oil production.

Apply topical medications

If you are using any topical medications or ointments, now is the best time to apply it. If you are using acne spot-on treatments then apply it. This will help dry up any acne breakouts that you might be experiencing or at least reduce their appearance before they become too serious to control.

Don’t forget your eye creams.

Eye creams are necessary because the skin around the eyes tends to be thinner compared to the rest of the body. Apply generously especially on the areas where lines and wrinkles tend to appear. These products contain collagen that can help firm up your skin. The good news is that there are creams and serums that you can try out to protect you against early signs of aging.

Moisturize your skin

The next step would be to apply moisturizer. Without proper moisture, your skin will become dry and force your skin to produce more oil to prevent dryness from happening. Unfortunately, since there is more oil being produced there is a high chance that your skin will become acne prone. Choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type as much as possible.

Sunscreen is important

If you think that your skin care ends with moisturizer, think again. Your skin needs protection against the UVA/UVB rays that are being emitted by the sun which is why you need to apply sunscreen protection with SPF 30 or higher. This will give your skin sufficient protection from the damages that can be triggered by the sun.

Work on your primer

Now that you have applied your sunscreen, the next and final step will be to apply your primer or foundation which is important before your makeup routine. This will help prepare your skin for the makeup that you are going to use so that you will have an even result.
