Simple Indian Remedies for Lack of Appetite

Lack of appetite can strike us from time to time. It might be because we are suffering from depression, viral or bacterial infections, or underlying conditions like heart problems, liver disease, and the like. Although poor appetite can disappear after a while, if you feel that you need to jumpstart your appetite, you might want to look for other avenues to help you out. The good news is that there are plenty of home remedies that can help you with your appetite and they are easy to use too. Here are some examples of home remedies that you can include in your diet to bring back your appetite.

Indian gooseberry

This is also called amla and is one of the best home remedies that you can use to increase your appetite if your lack of hunger is due to a disruption in your gastrointestinal tract. It boosts digestion and can improve your liver function too. For this home remedy, you will need to combine two teaspoons of lemon juice, two teaspoons of honey, and two teaspoons of Indian gooseberry juice in a cup filled with water. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and drink. Make sure that your stomach is empty while doing so. You should repeat this for a few months.

Syrup

You can also revive your appetite by making your own syrup using half a liter of lemon juice, half a liter of water, 1 kilogram of sugar candy, and half a teaspoon of white sugar. Start by melting the sugar candy in a pan filled with water. Place the pan over low heat and let the sugar dissolve until it has formed thick syrup. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool first. Add the vinegar and fresh lemon juice into the syrup mix it well, and then transfer to an airtight container. Take two tablespoons of this syrup every day and you will find that your appetite is going well.

Black pepper

If you want to jumpstart your appetite, try black pepper. This ingredient is often used in Ayurvedic treatment to boost digestion, raise one’s appetite, and even treat any digestive issues that you may be having. What’s great about black pepper is that it has the ability to stimulate your taste buds so that you will feel your mouth watering for food. You just need to mix one half teaspoon of black pepper (grounded) with a tablespoons of jaggery powder and take it for a few days.  You will find that your appetite will be stimulated because of this.

Coriander

Coriander is another home remedy that has been found to be useful in stimulating one’s appetite. All that you have to do is to mix half a cup of coriander leaves with water and drink while your stomach is empty. Not only will this fix your digestion, but it will also improve your appetite fast.
