Reasons Why You Should Start Doing Wall Push-Ups

Doing push-ups is a great way to have your arm, back and chest muscles toned. However, for most people, push-ups are some of the most difficult exercises out there. Fortunately, it is possible for you to enjoy the many perks that push-ups bring, and such can be done by discarding the traditional method and opting for wall push-ups instead.

Just like what the name says, wall push-ups are done against a wall rather than on the floor. As a result, everything gets a lot easier. But this does not mean, however, that you won’t get serious results from wall push-ups — simply by doing more repetitions and sets, you can get the pretty much the very same benefits that traditional push-ups bring.

Before we check out some of the reasons why it is a wonderful idea for you to start incorporating wall push-ups into your regular exercise regimen, let’s take a look at the steps on how they are done properly and safely:

Pick a wall. Make sure that there is nothing that’s hanging from it. Opt for a spot where there is absolutely nothing standing between you and the wall.

Stand about an arm’s length away from the wall. Your feet should be about shoulder width apart.

Take your arms forward and press your palms against the wall.

While keeping your feet firmly planted on the floor, slowly take your upper body closer to the wall.

As you do so, inhale.

Hold the position for about a second, and then slowly push your upper body away from the wall.

As you go back to the starting position, exhale.

That’s regarded as one repetition. As a starter, try to complete 10 to 12 repetitions. Take a break for about a minute, and then do one more set. It’s a good idea for you to perform 2 to 3 sets each time.

Now that you know how to properly execute wall push-ups, it’s now time for us to take a look at some of the reasons why wall push-ups should be carried out regularly:

Wall push-ups are easier to do

Unlike traditional push-ups, wall push-ups keep you from going against gravity. You are not going to have a hard time incorporating them to your regular exercise regimen.

They let you tone your chest muscles

Men and women alike can benefit tremendously from doing wall push-ups. Men can keep those unsightly man boobs at bay, while women can keep their breasts from sagging.

Doing them also lets you tone your arm and back muscles

Just like traditional push-ups, wall push-ups are also very good at toning the muscles situated in your arms and back.

They help burn unwanted calories

If you are trying to drop a few pounds, wall push-ups are some of the best exercises for you because they get rid of excess pounds and also speed up your metabolism.

You are less likely to get injured

Provided that they are done properly, it’s virtually impossible for you to injure yourself, unlike when doing those extremely difficult traditional push-ups.
