Organic Hair and Skin Care Tips

If there’s one lie that we need to stop believing, it’s this: natural and affordable cosmetic products, treatments, and tips don’t exist. They’ve been around for decades but we barely notice because we’re too busy gushing over those cosmetic ads and spending thousands of dollars on makeup and skin care products that we won’t be using anyway. Sometimes, these products are purchased because the packaging looks nice or the color palette looks lovely. As a matter of fact, according to a survey conducted in the United Kingdom, women only use those cosmetic products for an average of twelve months. Not very impressive, eh? There are also plenty of toxic chemicals found in those beauty products. Oh dear. We spend thousands to make ourselves look beautiful, but we eventually end up sacrificing our health.

This sounds cliché, but if you want to be beautiful, then just be yourself. Don’t hide under all that makeup junk and cover your flaws because you don’t need to do that. The right people will love you for who you are and the wrong people, well, who needs them anyway? Honor your body by taking good care of it, respecting it, and choosing natural ways to let its inner beauty shine. Be kind to your body, because that is the only vessel you have in this lifetime. There are plenty of ways to do this and nope, you do not need to pull out all of the money from your bank account to do it.

Here’s a list:

1. Get Beautiful Skin by Dry Brushing It’s exactly what it is: dry brushing.

This process eliminates toxins from your body and gently stimulates various organs through a simple body massage. It boosts the lymphatic system, sloughs off dead skin cells, boosts your immune system, bids those cellulites goodbye, triggers hormone functions, and tightens the skin by improving blood circulation. It’s easy to do, and it’s very affordable.

2. The Natural Way to Exfoliate those Elbows and Knees Slice an orange in two and rub it on your knees and elbows.

This will moisturize and soften the rough patches on your skin. Use cold water to get rid of the sticky feeling after.

3. Olive Oil and Sea Salt Scrub

Blend a 1 to 2 ratio of sea salt and olive oil. Use the mixture to slough off those dead skin cells and make way for skin that’s soft, healthy, and glowing. This is also more affordable than those over-the-counter body scrubs.

4. Adios Blackheads!

Get a lemon wedge and add four or five drops of raw honey. Rub the lemon wedge on your skin for sixty seconds and linger a bit longer on the affected areas. Leave the lemon and honey mixture on your face for five minutes. Wash your face with cold water after. Take note that you should stay away from the sun after doing this treatment because lemon makes your skin extra sensitive.

5. Nail Moisturizer

Dip your nails in a small bowl of olive oil for five to ten minutes. Check out how soft they are afterwards.

6. Raw Honey Facial Mask

Organic honey has anti-bacterial properties that helps eliminate dirt and other impurities from the surface of your skin. It’s also an effective moisturizer. Once every seven days, get at least a tablespoon of raw honey (the ones claiming to be raw honey does not count), place it on your palm, and rub it until it feels warm. Spread the warm honey on your face using upward strokes and leave it there for five to ten minutes. Rinse your face with warm water and then dry it with a soft towel after. h

7. Organic Shaving Cream

Bet you didn’t know that an organic substitute for shaving cream is coconut oil. It’s simple, natural, and inexpensive.

8. Natural Hair Conditioner

Use warm organic coconut oil to treat your scalp and condition your hair. Apply the coconut oil on your scalp and gently massage it from the roots, all the way to the tip. Let it stay on your hair for a few hours and then rinse it off with a gentle shampoo after. You don’t need to use a conditioner unless you have very long hair. Organic coconut oil will supply your long, shiny locks with nutrients that you won’t be able to get from baking soda and other over-the-counter shampoos.

9. Apple Cider Shampoo

Those who have been using commercial shampoos are probably unaware of the chemical build up on their hair. Get rid of those toxic materials by mixing a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar and a cup of water. Use the mixture as a shampoo, rinse, and then apply a gentle conditioner.

10. Banana and Eggs for Shiny Hair

Blend an egg and mashed up banana to give your hair that extra shine. Apply the thick paste on your scalp (start from the root to the tip) and leave it on for ten minutes to half an hour. Rinse with cold water after. If you’re using an over-the-counter conditioner, you’ll only need to condition the tips.

Take Note:

These organic hair and skin care tips are not quick solutions. At the end of the day, you will still need to manage your stress, eat properly, exercise regularly, and get enough sleep. While it’s true that these tips will increase the effectivity of your daily skin care regimen, it’s still important to take note that true beauty is the aftermath of knowing how to honor and take care of your body every single day. Do not hide yourself under all those layers of eye shadow, foundation, eyeliner, and lipstick.
