How to Beat Your Bad Feelings?

We are all susceptible to feeling bad from time to time as there are people and other environmental factors that can cause us to feel blue. It is understandable that there are times when our emotions get the best of us but not when you are able to take control of them as much as possible. Keep in  mind that if we are constantly feeling down or we often feel sorry for ourselves, there is a huge chance that it can lead to depression which you need to avoid as much as possible. So how do you beat those bad feelings that plague you from time to time? Well, here are a few tips that you can make use of.

Learn to breathe

This is easier said than done when your emotions are running wild. Breathing or the art of breathing deeply is one of the easiest ways for you to manage your bad feelings before they become overwhelming. Deep and slow breathing is what you should be doing at this point to help you feel more relaxed and calm which can help banish or at least give you better clarity on what is causing your emotional upheaval.

Go for a walk

There is no denying the power of going out for walks when your emotions are in turmoil because boosting the blood that is flowing in your body can actually increase the amount of oxygen entering your brain. Even 10 minutes of walk can make a huge difference to how you are feeling.

Find positive things

Again, this is not as easy as it sounds especially when your mood is way, way down. But if you can take a moment and actually look for the positive things that surround you, you will be able to feel better about yourself soon enough.

Write it down

Another way for you to combat those bad feelings is to write them down. Writing down all the negative thoughts that you are having can help free you from them. Think of writing as a form of therapy for you where you can see your thoughts clearly. If you are being too hard on yourself, list down five positive qualities that you have for every negative thought that you have. You will soon find that the positive outweighs the negative.

Practice mindfulness

In a world where people are too absorbed about themselves, we can’t help but be swept with everyone’s way of thinking. Unfortunately, this is one of the reasons why we often end up feeling depressed because we are thinking too much of ourselves and forgetting others. With that being said, practicing the art of mindfulness is one way for you to beat your bad feelings because it is at this stage where you become aware of your surroundings and yourself. When you are mindful, you will know what it is that causes these feelings of sadness and depression on your side and be able to stem it before it actually worsens.

Self-compassion helps

There are times when we berate ourselves for not being good enough or that we lost our temper with someone unexpectedly. Yes, we all have our inner demons to contend with but sometimes, applying self-compassion can help reduce the feeling of torture we are putting ourselves through. Recognize your mistakes and forgive yourself of them. This way, you will be able to move on and feel better about yourself then you can find ways to correct these mistakes too.

Beating your bad feelings is not that easy to do but with the steps mentioned above, there is a way that you will get back your positivity in no time.
