Homemade Face Moisturizers Recipes

Our skin requires moisture for it to remain smooth, soft, and supple even as we age but with our current skin care routine, we often end up with dry and flaking skin that is prone to wrinkles, lines, and other signs of aging. Most of us assume that simply slapping on moisturizers is enough to feed our skin with the necessary moisture but you might find that some of these skin care products can actually dry the skin because of the alcohol ingredients that they contain.

If you want to give your skin a break from all the chemicals that commercial skin care products contain, you might want to try making your own face moisturizers. Here are a few recipes that you can start with that your skin will thank you for.

Vanilla and Vitamin E Butter

In this recipe, you will need ½ cup of shea butter, ½ teaspoon of vanilla oil, ¼ cup of coconut oil, and a tablespoon of vitamin E oil. Start this recipe by putting the shea butter in a mixing bowl. The coconut oil needs to be melted before being added to the shea butter bowl. Add the vanilla and vitamin E into the mix and freeze for about 10 minutes. Whip the mixture with a fork to have better consistency. Transfer the contents to an airtight container and use daily.

Aloe Vera Moisturizer

Another homemade moisturizer that you can mix on your own is the aloe vera moisturizer. You will need to prepare 4 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil, 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 2 tablespoons of almond oil. You will need to get a small bowl or cup then mix the aloe vera gel and the oils in it until they are all combined together. You will need to melt the coconut oil first before adding into the mixture. Mix together and you are done. Transfer to a sealed container and use as you would any moisturizing product.

Homemade Eczema Cream

Eczema can flare up from time to time which can be rough for you for sure. Using regular moisturizers may not give you the soothing properties that they promise which is why making your own might be a good idea to begin with. In this recipe, you will need ½ cup of coconut oil, ¼ cup of oats, 5 drops of lavender essential oil, ¼ cup of shea butter, and 2 teaspoons of vitamin E oil. First, you will need to grind the oats until they achieve a powder or flour-like consistency then put it aside. Get a small pan and place on low heat. Put the coconut oil in the pan and melt until it becomes liquid. Now add the lavender oil as well as the shea butter. See to it that the ingredients are mixed properly. For this moisturizer recipe to work well, you need to make sure that the ingredients have been distributed evenly. Now add the ground oats into the pan then mix until everything has been blended. Add the vitamin E oil then stir once more. Make sure that the stove is in low heat as you mix the ingredients. Remove from the heat and transfer contents into a small, airtight container.

These recipes are worth trying out if you want to give your skin some time to breathe from all the moisturizing lotions and creams that you’ve been applying to it. These recipes make use of natural ingredients that can bring back moisture to your skin with regular use without making your skin dry up because there are no harsh chemicals included.
