DIY Lip Scrub

Chapped lips tend to occur when the temperature drops and it can be a source of discomfort when it starts to peel. Women can’t wear their lipstick properly, not unless they exfoliate their lips first. Yes, there are plenty of scrubs being sold in stores but why bother spending when you can make your own lip scrub? The good thing about making scrubs is that there are loads of ingredients to use. Just make sure that you don’t subject your lips to too much exfoliation as you can scrub your skin raw.  Here are some recipes to try when making your DIY lip scrub.

Bubblegum lip scrub. Bubblegum inspired lip scrub will not only leave your lips smooth but it will also leave that favorite bubblegum taste on your lips which is not bad if you love to chew some. For this recipe, you will need to prepare a tablespoon of sugar, 2 drops of bubblegum flavoring, ½ teaspoon of olive oil, and 3 drops of food coloring which is optional. Put the ingredients in a small bowl in order starting with sugar, bubblegum flavor, food coloring, and olive oil. Mix thoroughly and apply on your lips afterwards then scrub gently.

Kiwi surprise lip scrub. What’s great about kiwi as an ingredient for lip scrub is that it is a natural exfoliant which you need to remove dead skin on the surface of your lips. You will need to prepare a tablespoon of sugar, a tablespoon of kiwi, and a tablespoon of oil. You will need to mix your sugar and oil first. The oil can be any such as grape seed or olive oil. The final ingredient would be a tablespoon of kiwi pulp into the mix. Scrub your lips with it.

Cinnamon lip scrub. The cinnamon lip scrub not only helps exfoliate your lips but it can also make your lips feel plumper so that it will be able to absorb the nutrients and moisture. In this recipe, you will need 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, ½ tablespoon of raw honey, ½ tablespoon of olive oil, and ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon powder. To make this lip scrub, simply combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl then apply it to your lips using your fingers. Massage it gently to help remove dead skin cells. Rinse it afterwards with warm water then apply lip balm so that your lips will get properly moisturized.

Chocolate butter lip scrub. Eating chocolate is a luxury for many of us but if you want to leave the taste of it in your lips, you might want to try this chocolate butter lip scrub. You will need a tablespoon of brown sugar, ½ tablespoon of oil, ½ tablespoon of shea butter, and 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder. Start by mixing the shea butter and sugar in a small bowl using a spoon. Add the oil to your mix. Again, your choice of oil. The final ingredient would be the cocoa powder. Mix everything together before applying on your lips and scrub gently.

Minty almond lip scrub. Do you want a bit of peppermint on your lips? The freshness of the mint will definitely perk you up and your lips smooth and luxurious to the touch. You will need a teaspoon of honey, a drop of peppermint oil, a teaspoon of sweet almond oil, and ½ teaspoon of brown sugar. Get a medium sized bowl and mix sweet almond oil and brown sugar until the two are combined properly. Add the honey until the sugar is properly coated. Stir in some peppermint oil into the mix. Add a dime sized amount of the scrub on your lips then massage for 15 seconds. Use warm water and washcloth to rinse the scrub.
