8 Productivity Tips that Will Change Your Career and Your Life

You probably had some issues with your productivity from time to time which is not surprising as there are days when you are just not in the mood to do any work. It may be that you have so much on your plate that you feel that you are quite productive but the exact opposite is happening because you don’t know where to begin with your tasks. With that being said, our productivity levels can make or break our career as well as our personal life. If you still haven’t got the hang of being a productive individual, these tips may do you a whole lot of good.

Start planning on a weekend

Most of us have a lot of work ahead of us during the week that we need to plan our tasks accordingly. But if you think that planning will take only a few minutes of your time or half an hour at least, you might want to rethink that. Planning takes a lot of time to assess the importance of the tasks that you are going to do. Using your weekend to map out your schedule for the week will make it easier for you to start your work week right.

Focus on one task

We often take pride that we are adept multitaskers but if you think that makes you more productive, you might be surprised that you are not. Just because you are doing multiple things at the same time it doesn’t mean that you are making any progress at all. You are better off doing one thing at a time so you will be able to get through your tasks efficiently.

Reduce the hours of your work week

Pulling up to 80 hours a week may seem like a result of high productivity levels but it doesn’t. Not only are you putting yourself at risk of health issues but you aren’t exactly getting any work done. Taking too much work can actually hurt your productivity so learn to say no and cut back on your work hours. You need to rest too, you know.

Have a list of tasks on hand

With all the work that we are doing in a day, it is easy for us to get distracted. The best way to avoid this is for you to keep a list of your tasks for the day within reach so you will get a better idea if you are meeting the schedule you created over the weekend.

Take breaks

You are not a machine who can work non-stop. You also need a breather. Take breaks every hour. Get up and walk around or drink water to rejuvenate your senses. This will help keep you energized and focused on the work on hand.

Create a morning routine that empowers you

Sometimes we can only rely on ourselves to give our self-confidence a boost which is why having an empowering routine in the morning is highly recommended. This can be in the form of meditation, yoga, or whatever it is that you have in mind that will put on the right track for your work.

Don’t be a slave to your phone

Although our phone keeps us connected to the rest of the world, it can also be a form of distraction for us. If you want to increase your productivity levels, learn to detach yourself from your gadget and just focus on your work. You can check it during your breaks but not while you are working.

Time your tasks

If you have several priority tasks set for the day, you can set a time for each task. This way, you will know how much time you can set aside for each project so you can move on to the next until you complete the tasks for the day.
