5 Things That Make You Fat

Let’s admit it. Eating is one of our pleasures in life not just because it gives us energy but because we want to savor their rich flavours. Unfortunately, because of our love of eating, we are putting ourselves at risk of gaining weight especially when we are not careful with choosing what we put in our mouths. Even if you have been going to the gym regularly and are wondering why there are no changes to your current weight, then there might be something wrong with your approach to keeping your weight down.

For those who are a bit clueless as to why their weight still remains the same in spite of the hours they spend in the gym, here are five things that you might be doing that are making you fat.

Your love of diet sodas. Just because there is the word “diet” in front of your favorite soda it doesn’t mean that it will help you lose weight. As a matter of fact, studies revealed that those who drink this beverage twice a day can increase their waist size at least six times which can be quite revealing particularly in your midsection.

You sleep too much or too little. Who doesn’t love to sleep for hours especially over the weekend? Well, it appears that sleeping too much or even too little can cause our weight to go up. For those who sleep just five hours or less are at risk of weight gain because they will turn to foods to provide them with energy for the day. As for those who sleep for more than 8 hours, chances are you will feel sluggish and won’t be in the mood to get your butt off the chair to workout.

You eat too much. You probably have broken down your meals into smaller portions throughout the day but if you think that this will help keep your weight down, you might be actually promoting weight gain in the process. The thing is our brains are hardwired to eat carbohydrates, protein and fat during meal times so chances are you will be eating these things every time you take a break to eat. This can cause calories and fats to accumulate which can lead to weight gain.

You tend to skip meals. A lot of people tend to skip meals because they are in a rush or they don’t want to end up gaining weight. Unfortunately, this habit can actually lead to weight gain especially when you skip your morning meal. One reason behind this is that your metabolism slows down and your hunger increases. This can actually lead to eating more in your next meals because you are quite hungry.

You’re too stressed. If you are often stressed out, chances are you’re actually seeing your weight increase. When you are stressed, your body releases insulin and cortisol which can trigger hunger on your part. Eating sends pleasure to your brain but it will eventually wear off unless you eat something.
